Candidate assessments
A Candidate Assessment is Candio’s deepest AI read on a single candidate. Unlike Job Fit (runs automatically on application) and Round Summaries (runs automatically on round completion), assessments are on-demand — you trigger them when you want a consolidated view.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- Before a hiring-team debrief, to have everyone reading the same page.
- Before an offer decision, to stress-test your gut against every signal.
- When a candidate has a lot of context — resume + multiple scorecards + HubSpot notes — and you want it synthesized.
How to generate one
Section titled “How to generate one”- Open the candidate’s detail page.
- Scroll to AI Insights → the Candidate Assessment card.
- Click Generate Assessment.
Candio queues the job, shows a spinner with the message “Generating assessment…”, and polls every 5 seconds for the result. Typical turnaround is 20–60 seconds depending on how much context there is.
What the card shows
Section titled “What the card shows”Once complete, the assessment has:
- Recommendation pill — the headline verdict (e.g. STRONG HIRE · HIRE · PASS · STRONG PASS).
- Summary — 2–4 sentences on the candidate’s overall shape.
- Strengths — bulleted list with specific evidence from the resume and scorecards.
- Concerns — bulleted list with specific evidence for what’s risky or missing.
- Risk Flags — optional, shows when the AI detects something worth calling out (short tenure, scope-creep mismatch, weak recent performance).
- Case For / Case Against — a two-column balanced argument, useful for debriefs.
Input sources
Section titled “Input sources”The AI pulls from:
- The candidate’s resume (parsed text + extracted entities).
- Every submitted scorecard for this candidate’s rounds.
- The HubSpot contact notes attached to the candidate.
- Any meeting notes logged against the candidate via HubSpot/Zoom/Google Meet integration.
So the more signals you’ve collected, the richer the assessment. Running one right after the first scorecard returns is cheaper information than running it after the resume is processed but before interviews; the card is genuinely useful at both moments.
Regenerating
Section titled “Regenerating”The Regenerate button at the bottom of a completed assessment generates a fresh one from scratch, using the latest inputs. Costs another credit. The previous assessment is replaced — Candio doesn’t keep a history (contact support if you need to preserve a past version).
States you’ll see
Section titled “States you’ll see”| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| ”Generate Assessment” button | Never run. Click to start. |
| ”Generating assessment…” spinner | Running. Check back in ~30 seconds. |
| Completed card | Ready. Shows the assessment. |
| ”Monthly credit limit reached” | Out of AI credits. See Billing. |
| ”Assessment failed — try again” | Something went wrong. Click Regenerate — the most common cause is a temporary AI provider blip. |
Credit cost
Section titled “Credit cost”1 credit per run (including regenerations). See AI credits.
